With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Sunday Post #175

My last Sunday was, except for an unpleasant incident with one of my neighbors, a normal Sunday. I did the usual blog visiting, watched a bit of TV, and watered parts of the garden in the evening.

Monday was a quiet day, so nothing to report here. Tuesday, I had a “panic letter” from my landlord in the mail. With the soaring electricity and gas prices, I got asked to put some money aside for next year to avoid any shock when the next invoice for additional costs is due. As if I wouldn´t know!

Wednesday was another quiet day with my normal routine. I wrote some reviews, edited some covers, and watched my favorite TV show Escape to the Chateau.

On Thursday, I scheduled my garden time. There is so much to do down there but with the warm temperatures, I can only go early in the morning or late in the evening.

Friday morning, I went into town to get some stuff done at the bank. After that, I went to the supermarket for some veggies, fruits, and other things. When I saw the new prices for meat, ground beef, sausages, or chicken and turkey, I noticed that my personal price limit is reached. I went back to the fruit and vegetable department and filled my basket with more salad, cucumbers, bananas, and kohlrabi. Back home, I enjoyed a little break, stored everything where it belongs and an hour later, my second trip for some fresh soil and new plants was in order.

After a sleepless night, I took care of my household Saturday morning. Later, I walked to the supermarket for some items they had on sale. Those things hadn´t been on sale the day before, so I had to go again. But it was worth it because I saw some lavender, one almost dead the other close to dead standing in the garden department. I went to the information desk and asked how much they would cost now if I wanted to buy them. The first answer was that they would be on sale Monday morning. Seconds later the woman asked her colleague how much they would be in that shape. Well, first he said fifty percent cheaper. I told him, that four bucks for both would be insane, considering the shape they are in. About five minutes later, he told me, the system shows -,29 cents for each plant. Sold!

When I got home, I cut them back heavily and planted them in the garden. And because the ground is rock hard in the other three flower beds, I am busy keeping the weeds away but planting isn´t possible. At least not now. Guess I will have to work in a lot of sand, in late August or early September before I can plant there anything. Ah well …

Today, Sunday, I slept long. Seems to become my Sunday routine *smile* Guess, I am preparing for the announced heat wave the weather forecast is expecting to reach us next week on Monday and Tuesday.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  1. You had a busy week! With the heat, I am not doing as much outside. I'm planning in my head for fall planting. I wish I could get spinach to grow but it seems to just shrivel up and die. I'm watering some plants more since it is so hot. It could be much worse though. We are mostly 30-35C but many place are 38C and hotter.

    1. The soil in the garden is partly so dry that I can see some deep cracks between the plants *sigh*

  2. Chateau sounds fun. I think I've heard of that one.

I hope the lavender does well.

    Be well this week!
