With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*
I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.
Stacking The Shelves #178
I had two books in the mail. Thanks to Heyne a review copy and thanks to Bloomsbury I made myself a birthday gift.

Bought Birthday Gift
Sunday Post #135
Monday and Tuesday I stayed mainly at home. I was busy working on getting my desk empty in time for the start of my vacation on Saturday. And with my birthday being on Sunday I wanted to see a “nice and clean” desk. I am not celebrating big but a few nice things I wanted to have. It has become a tradition that I buy myself a birthday gift. That can be a new TV, new headphones, or something totally different. This year, I bought myself a book.
Wednesday and Thursday I got wet – soaking wet to be honest - while going to the supermarket to buy some plants, food, drinks, and other things. Guess, I´ve got my fair share of summer shower *smile* But I had wanted those grasses, and they were on sale. I also spent a few hours doing research, created some new pictures for my blog, and started to write a post about Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
After an almost sleepless night from Thursday into Friday, I went to the supermarket early again to get myself some more grasses. I also got my birthday gift delivered that day and while I was waiting for it to arrive, I read a new release. After the book arrived I was so tired but couldn´t sleep and decided to take some Instagram pictures from the newly released books I´ve already read and will have to read over the next few weeks. After that, I was ready for a shower.
Yesterday, Saturday, I went again to the supermarket because they had some things I wanted on sale. Back at home, I noticed that I had forgotten to buy milk. So, I had to go a second time. Ugh! In the late afternoon, the chocolate cake was finally baked when my stepmom called. She and my dad wanted to come over for a quick visit. This “stop by” turned into a nearly hour-long visit filled with laughter, long tight hugs, and a wonderful sense of normalcy.
Woohoo!!
For the first time in almost two years, we were able to do that without having to think about the damn virus and that both my parents are belonging to the high-risk group. The last time we´ve done that (hugging each other) had been on 24 December 2019! It felt so damn good. My stepmom enjoyed it very much to stand right beside me while looking at some pictures with me. My dad was smiling all over his face and kept touching my hand.
And today, I am busy unpacking all the gifts that have arrived (the card you see in the right picture, is the one that was in the envelope on the left picture from my parents). After a long night with cake, a glass of sparkling wine to toast, lots of laughter, fun, and some roast chicken I was up early and enjoying breakfast. What happened to the “I will sleep long until I wake up without the alarm clock ringing?”.
Well. During the morning I took some new Instagram pictures and had some tears running down my cheeks while reading the one or the other card. The rest of the day I will enjoy by doing nothing but enjoying myself, the beautiful sunshine, and the fact that I am still here. And tonight, another birthday present is due to arrive. A German TV station is airing Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander”, and I am eager to find out how the German translation will sound.
How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.
Happy reading
