With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*
I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.
Stacking The Shelves #176
No new books this week.
Sunday Post #133
While August has been a rainy and sometimes too cold month, September has started with almost hot temperatures and dry weather. Monday to Saturday I went in the morning hours to get all my errands done. Laundry, cleaning my household and getting out all the weeds and rootage that is still in the garden.
As you can see, the newly seeded lawn is coming great and I am curious how the other two areas I brought out lawn seed, will look in about two weeks.
How that spot looked about three weeks ago.
I haven´t done much blog work or visiting other blogs during the last seven days. The lack of energy is annoying and with the garden work, I see more and more that my body is still recovering from the Covid-19 infection. I am breathless after about four hours of ripping out weeds and digging holes or only seeding out two square meters of garden. Reading a book or writing a blog post after I spent an afternoon in the garden? Forget it. I am just too tired.
On the other hand, I am happy that I am making progress down there. Slow progress, but it is visible progress. Good, the entire garden looks awful, like a patchwork quilt, but I realized months ago, that our landlord won´t help to turn the awful lawn into a good-looking lawn by taking out the old soil and getting new soil in so that I could seed out new lawn. And believe me, digging out weeds of all sorts by hand that grow in wet and clay-like soil is not easy. Especially not when the area that needs a new lawn is about fifteen square meters big.
Yesterday in the late afternoon, one of my lady neighbors (she has her balcony towards the garden corner where I do all the work) called me and told me how much she loves the new look of the garden corner. Made me happy. I was totally exhausted and breathing as if I´ve run a marathon but her compliment felt like a warm breeze.
Didn´t even know that I have buckwheat growing in my garden corner (picture above). The next step is the spot under the dying fir. I have some pictures in my head of how that spot could look next year.
Today, Sunday, I went down to water the newly seeded lawn around noon. I will have to water it in the evening again with the warm temperatures we currently have and the fact that the entire garden is getting sun all day. This part of growing a new lawn is the one I don´t like. Let´s hope that the water in the rain barrel is enough to make the seeds grow. Don´t want to use water from the apartment. Too expensive. Guess, I should have finished all parts with the new lawn in August when we had almost all week rainy weather and nature did the job for me.
How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.
Happy reading

That's wild you got so much rain in August. We had very little rain and it was hot. It is just slightly cooler now but no rain. We are getting winds more from the north so there is hope now. I have big plans for fall planting. It's so great to see progress in your garden.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I only plan to (maybe) clean some space in the garden that still looks horrible. I am happy about that progress. But not sure if I will continue to work in the garden...
DeleteLooks like some pretty flowers and that the grass seed is doing well! I have a lot of work that I should do in my yard. My step-dad is working on killing the weeds and has come over and sprayed the large vines that include poison ivy on top of the fence on one side of my yard. Still waiting for that to finish killing it off though. Hope you have a good week!

I had to dig out all the ivy roots to get rid of it. But there is still some ivy left. It is annoying and frustrating. Well, it will take time...
DeleteThe grass looks like it is coming in very well. Your photos are lovely. I hope your health continues to get better as time goes on. My friends and coworkers who have had COVID have expressed similar lingering symptoms. I hope you have a great week! Take care.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if it is only coming of age or really Long-Covid. So far I can´t make myself call the expert to make an appointment and find out what´s going on... *sigh*
DeleteWow what a huge difference! Covid definitely takes a toll. Although after four hours in the garden I'd be out too. :) It looks nice though.
ReplyDeleteNice to be appreciated by the neighbor :)
It is such a great feeling to see the grass grow *smile* Never thought that that would one day make my day *lol*
DeleteThe garden looks beautiful. I'm sorry to hear that you're still dealing with after effects of Covid. I know it has to be annoying to not be back to 100%, but I'm just so glad that you are okay and able to get up and do things. Covid has been such a scary thing these last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. It is a scary thing. And I don´t want to have to go through another Covid Infection. Glad you like the garden. Working down there helped me to stay sane.
