With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #123

I was a good girl. No new books.

Sunday Post #80

This week I am a bit struggling with my Sunday Post. My life is, besides the usual things going on pretty boring at the moment. The wasp´s nest will stay where it is until the end of August. Turns out it is a harmless sort of wasps, although the sight of them is still giving me goosebumps. But after a conversation with one of the guys from the local nature office, I knew that my landlord wouldn´t be willing to give the order to remove it. Too costly. And I don´t see a point spending 400 Euros to get rid of the nest. Now the door to the attic is locked and we all hope that the wasp queen will move out around mid-August so that I can take it down.

For all those, who have not seen the picture last week, here is it again. It still looks the same except for the fact that it has grown about four inches since this picture was taken.

I was able to finish a book I am longtime overdue with my review and made further progress with the necessary editing of my older posts. Only thirty pages to go until I am done *yay* Besides that I was busy checking my publishing schedule for all the release changes that were made public the past week. So far it seems that I will be busy this autumn. Some of the books that had been due in spring 2020 got rescheduled to spring 2021 only to get rescheduled again for later this year *smile*

On June 23, 2020, all Citizens of our town were invited to join a forum and be part of the decision if our public outdoor pool would open this year or not. I read a report about all the things that had been necessary to do due to the requirements our state government has made mandatory for the opening of any bath in the country. It was clear to me that there wouldn´t be any spontaneous morning trip to the bath for an hour swimming and I don´t mind that. Booking a ticket online is nothing big, except for the elderly maybe. My parents do have internet because they need it to be able to watch TV or use their landline. But they don´t have a pc or laptop or tablet to visit the website to book a ticket. But all in all, I think we can be very happy with the way how we can use it now. It could have been worse. It is different, that´s for sure. But with the pandemic going on for months now, everything is different.

Since Wednesday, July first we have a new German Infection Protection Act. I don´t know which number it is, and I don´t care to be honest. I only know that I haven´t kept an eye on all the law changes the way I am doing since mid-March my entire lifetime before Corona hit the planet. Now we can have a party with twenty people in one place - if we like that is -, if we keep the still required 6ft distance. I also have it now black on white that the one person per 20 square meters is no longer mandatory. Now it is only one person per 10 square meters. And with that change, my library has given out some new rules. In addition to the usual rules of hygiene and distancing behavior, twice as many people can now be in the rooms in addition to the library ladies. I am still not planning on going there unless I have to. But it is kind of comforting to see that we went another step closer to what we now call “the life before Corona”.

I hope all my US friends had a wonderful, safe and happy fourth of July (against all odds) this year. The fireworks I was able to see on the BBC and CNN looked beautiful and it was a pleasure to watch them.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

  1. Wow that is a big nest!
I'm facepalming over all the measures and lengths other countries are going to to keep their citizens safe.
I'm in Florida and our libraries and community pools (as well as popular adult hangouts like bars) have been open since the beginning of May and June. It's no wonder our cases are so high right now. We surpassed 10,000 cases in my state earlier this week. :(
    Stay safe and happy reading!

    1. Yes, it is frightening to see how people react around the world to the threat this virus is. I hope the curve will go down in your state soon and that it won´t cost too many lives ...

  2. Yes I don't care what they require or don't. We stay home. We wear masks if we must go out but we try not to go out. It's a weird time. Enjoy your week!

    1. I totally agree with you. Staying home is the best we can do. Guess when the really hot weather will hit us I won´t be doing much grocery shopping or only in the early morning hours. It is simply to hot under that thing *sigh*

  3. Our pool weren't going to open until some benefactor came forward with a donation to open 5 pools until schools open in August. Not that we will go, they are open at 75% capacity but we are still trying to social distance since too many people here won't wear masks and can't even be bothered to at least social distance. You made the right decision on the wasps, but yeah I would avoid the area.

    1. It is frightening how some people react to the virus situation. I mean why is it so bad to accept that we can´t stand too close to each other while talking or that it is better to wear a mask? I mean it shows that we respect the people around us, doesn´t it?

  4. Yuck. I hope the wasps move out quickly! I would not want those in my attic, even if they’re harmless. Have a great week!

    1. In a few weeks the wasps are supposed to be gone. But to know they are out there is not really a good feeling *smile*

  5. That’s is a big wasp nest, glad they are harmless but just the sight of it would give me the shivers! Here in Scotland restrictions are being lifted each week but I worry we will have a second wave especially as next week the pubs reopen.

    Have a good week.

    1. Bars and restaurants here in Germany learned shortly after they could reopen again, that their customers prefered to sit outside while enjoying a drink. A spontaneous trip to a restaurant is not possible. We have to call first and ask if a table is free (because of the limited space) and leave our contact information when we arrive. I will do that if it helps us all.

  6. I would be nervous about that wasp nest but at least you know now that they're not dangerous wasps. And glad to hear things are loosening up - let's hope things get back to some sort of normalcy at some point. Things here in the US are obviously going in the wrong direction, but hopefully that changes.

Thanks for the well wishes! We had a low key Fourth of July but it was okay even so.

  7. OMG, nope nope nope! I'd freak out at the sight of the wasps nest and - harmless or not - it'd need to go, lol. Even knowing it was up there in the attic would freak me out.

It's hard keeping up with the changes to covid restrictions sometimes. We've just had another load of changes come into effect and it makes me tired... Ah well, nothing to be done about it! It's not going away anytime soon. :(

    1. I am totally overwhelmed with all the corona changes that became mandatory by the first of July to be honest. And the wasps nest is only a bad addition to all the other things. But I keep telling myself that this is a matter of "Live and let live" and with that in mind I can deal with this damn nest *sigh*

  8. I didn’t know there was such a thing as harmless wasps!
We are sort of at the new normal stage in my part of Australia, we are essentially operating as usual but with some social distancing restrictions in place (eg 1 per 4 m2 for businesses). Mostly we are still wary about the possibility of a second wave though such as the one Victoria is now experiencing. I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. I didn´t know that with the harmless wasps either or that there was more than one sort of wasps. You can grow old like a cow and still learn *lol* Yes, I saw on TV the new situation in Victoria. Terrible. Stay safe and well!
