With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #114

No new books this week.

Sunday Post #71

When this post goes online, I am for the first time in days awake and up during the day. The past three days I was in bed and feeling awful. No, I am not positive of Corona but mentally so worn out that my body demanded some sleep. And I guess the April weather we´ve had, did its thing too. The entire daily routine I had finally found during the second week of lockdown just went out of the roof.

Monday through Wednesday I was reading myself through all the new rules and changes we will have from Monday on and as good as some of those rules seem, it is completely exhausting to keep track of everything. I have not read a single book or was able to do some blogging but somehow could get myself together and do some blog hopping earlier this morning.

From Monday on some more business and shops will reopen again. My library is among them and the rules for that have changed during the week again. I am only allowed access when I wear a “community mask” or a “medical mask” and will have to use the disinfectant that will stand right at the entrance of the library. You can´t go for the time being with your entire family to get new books. Only one person per family is allowed and we are asked to avoid any conversations. That sounds so strange and I am not sure if I will like it. Thank god my books are not due before mid-May and I hopefully can call them before I go and return my books.

During the week it became more and more clear that the time where the Germans were willing to do whatever the government is asking from them, is definitely over. It is sad to say it, but you can see that from the former 95 percent who obeyed to the stay-at-home and all the other guidelines, now are only 40 percent left who see a point in being cautious. The psychological four-week rule is completely off the table now.

And when I read the new guidelines our hairdresser´s shop must follow or they can´t reopen, I was somehow shocked. You must call them to make an appointment and during that call, you have to tell them already how you want your hair cut and check all the other details you want them to do. No spontaneous walking in and asking for one. It is now mandatory for the time being that you will get your hair washed before the cut but they aren´t allowed to blow-dry it later. I beg your pardon? You will have to wear a mask, and you need to disinfect your hands. No water or any other drink can be served, and the hairdresser is asked to keep your visit as short as possible. No unnecessary conversation. If you are used to getting your lashes colored, a cosmetic treatment, or a professional make-up - no chance. All those things are off the list until we have a vaccine. I am curious how that will work and when the first hairdresser will sue the government for the new rules and guidelines. When some of the bigger malls could sue the states, they are in, I think the smaller ones will maybe try to do the same.

Gosh, I need some chocolate. Unfortunately, I wasn´t able to go to the supermarket yesterday (my body wanted some sleep), so no chocolate in the house. And for a hot chocolate, it is too warm outside. Ugh.

How was your week?

Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  1. Wow those are some pretty detailed regulations. I would think people will prefer to stay in whatever be the cause and I am shocked that they are not. I hope you are staying in and safe

    1. We are all hoping that this will soon be over and that we can go back to normal. Or what we call normal.

  2. Oh my... Some of those measures (the hairdresser in particular) sound deranged! More trouble than it's worth... If thats what they do in the UK, I think I'll just be growing my hair out to my waist again then cutting it off when the restrictions lift!
Our lockdown is due to be reviewed this week so we'll see what they come up with!

Hope you have a better week and manage to get some chocolate!

    1. I did get some chocolate Monday after I´ve posted this post *yay*. It was a bit rainy and that seemed to be enough to keep people inside *smile*

  3. Well here the rules vary by every state or town, it's a mess. That's why we will just continue staying at home. And it isn't really a problem. We have most everything we need. We are very fortunate in that. I tend to always have back up of key things so the only thing we are starting to run out are wipes. We use a lot more wipes than hand sanitizer. I have enough hand sanitizer for the the next 10 years and didn't buy any in the last 8 months. I do love the little scented ones from Bath & Body Works though. I have grown my hair out to cut for Locks of Love, 6 times in the last 15 years, so I don't get a trim more than once a year. Anyway, I hope you are comfortable and can get what you need. I only get digital library books so that hasn't been any different.

Take care, be kind and sensible!

  4. I'm not at all ready to go to a hairdresser yet. Nor a nail technician... I want to continue to stay away from other people if at all possible...
I hope you'll have a wonderful week ahead, Vi. Stay safe and healthy.

    1. I admit it is a weird feeling nowadays to go outside the house. On Monday I´ve read parts of the video our Prime Minister had recorded for the smaller children and it was great. He talked plain text with them in a wonderful way. It helped me too, to cope with the situation.

    1. We fear a second wave too. And most of us know that we will not go through a second wave the way we went through the first one. The crazy thing is, we are still in the first wave but it seems that some don´t want to hear that.

  6. I hope you feel better soon. Some of the businesses here are opening up, but I’m not going to them unless I have to. Have a great week!

  7. I hope as things open up there that it goes well. We're having issues here too, definitely, with people apparently being at the end of their rope and just doing whatever. Strange times we're in!

Chocolate is therapy at this point haha! Be safe this week! :)

    1. Yep, chocolate is therapy. And one our state guidelines tell you to have at home during a crisis. No joke. I was laughing when I read it at the end of a very long list.

  8. I'm so sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope you're feeling better now. We are struggling getting people to follow the safe distancing guidelines here too. It's frustrating because the number of new cases in my state is still climbing. I'm curious to see what the guidelines will be for our hair salons once they can reopen. I have a feeling they will be similar to what you have described.

    1. Yes, that could be. We all need to be cautious. This isn´t over yet and will probably take a long time before we call life normal again.

  9. I'm sorry you haven't been well. This pandemic definitely takes it toll, I've been finding I'm up and down so much that it's exhausting. Keeping track of everything is hard, we are still in full lockdown for 2 more weeks and then everything is gradually reopening over the summer. No hairdressers till August though, which is not fun! People here are getting tired of the restrictions too and more people are on the move, which is really annoying.

    1. We heard from our government that if the numbers would rise again, we would go back to the closing of shops and schools again. It worries me that that could happen again because I know that we will not be able to ease a second wave the way we did the one we are currently in.
