Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week the theme is all about the reasons why I love reading these authors.

For this TTT I thought I write about some of the authors I find most on my shelves and which I love reading. To my surprise, I found out that I not only own most of my books written by Nora Roberts but also that most of my shelves are filled with thrillers, romance, and some fantasy books. Despite some other genres. I post them in random order but I guess, Nora Roberts is one of my top favorites.

She is called Queen of Romance for a good reason. I was in my early twenties when her books became popular here in Germany and I found myself going to the nearby bookstore almost daily to get another book from her. Her combination of family, passion, loyalty, love, soft writing-style and the one or the other contemporary or suspense touch in her stories has fascinated me from the beginning. And together with the great setting, her books are always a guarantor for great entertainment and some fantastic reading hours. Yes, she has written the one or the other book I wasn´t as thrilled with while reading, but most of her books I read with growing pleasure and still do.

I can´t remember when I started reading her books. My first was a romance novel she had written. Back then it was nice reading it, but the moment I read her first thriller I knew that she was a genius at that. Her style is soft, easy to read, and yet with a touch of danger and passion between the pages. I don´t like reading her romance novels anymore but would grab an SB thriller anytime, no matter what. Her psychological finesse is close to the one Mary Higgins Clark was famous for and yet you can tell the difference. In a positive way.

Her thrillers are filled with bloody scenes, cruelty, and brilliant dialogues between her figures. Always on a high level. Whether be it her writing style or how she uses words to create a scene or character. Everything is on point and though she writes about the darkest parts a human soul can have it always feels like great reading pleasure while reading.

I discovered her years ago at my library. It was Belladonna and her figure Sara Linton, that thrilled me beyond anything. About two days later I went back to the library to get the other books and from that moment on I wanted more. Her writing style is always the perfect combination of brutal and blunt but with a touch of sarcasm and humor. Karin Slaughter shows without any mercy how men and women get along while doing the same or being on the same career position. She´s able to create scenes I sometimes wish I´d never seen but at the same time I can´t get enough while reading the plot she has created in her mind. And when I read for the first time the thriller where she introduced Will Trent to her readers, I was in love.

She can create worlds you never thought imaginable. Whether she writes about the ToG world or uses already known stories to create a completely new world out of them – it is always fun to read them and to see what she can do with it. I would call her style easy to read with a touch of irony or sarcasm but always with a hint of romance and passion in it.

I love her happiness that shines through every page and sentence no matter what she is writing in her books. Even in a sad scene you always know that there will be a happy end and that the main figure will survive the moment. Her writing style is relaxing, easy to read, and from my perspective, I always think that time flies while reading one of her books. She is the perfect author for the beach or a sunny afternoon in your garden or balcony. And the combination of romance and real-life feelings in her novels is perfect.

She is in the Dark Paranormal Romance genre at home. Her books are filled with something twisted, that love always wins and her main figures have always something to endure that makes them special. She uses words I never thought would exist and no matter how hard you try, in the end, she gets you with her combination of romance, darkness, hope and contemporary and leaves you behind with tears in your eyes and a huge impact that shakes you to the core in a positive way.

He is an author who is easily capable of making me cry. He uses emotions in combination with a story that gets to you one way or the other. Flowers are always part of his novels, as well as a profound background story that shows you how life can be despite all odds. His writing style has an impact on you. In a positive way. Family, love, and the care of a loving mother is part of his plots, no matter which book you want to read from him.

That woman rocks! My first SH book was Brave the Heat from her McGuire Brothers series and after that I was thrilled. I love the way how she writes about love, passion, and life. Always with a touch of humor. And you always think this sounds like real life and yet you know there will be a happy end. She also writes in the fantasy genre, but those books I have not read so far.

She was, no doubt about that, THE Queen of Suspense the world has ever known. Her writing style was decent, she didn´t need to have sex scenes in her books to entertain her readers in the best possible way and she for sure never needed to use a loud tone in her stories. Her main figures were always successful, well-situated women who knew how to defend themselves if necessary. And the church always was part of her books and although in some I knew from the beginning who the evil guy was, it was fun to watch her main figure find that out throughout the ongoing plot.

Happy reading
