With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #111

I "bought" some books. They are kindle freebies, so please check them out before you one-click.

Sunday Post #68

We are now three weeks into the “no-contact-at-all” law and you can tell that the people who live in Germany are getting tired of it. Combined with the fantastic weather we´ve had over the past days, it is noticeable that the police had to tell people more and more to obey the new law for their own good. And if not for that, for the sake of others. We have, so far at least, one more week and next week the government will decide if we have to go until the end of April with the no-contact-at-all-rule.

I was able to bring some “old reviews” up on my blog. With old, I mean that I´ve read them a long time ago and now I took the time to translate them into English and put them online on Inkvotary. It was besides all the style editing I am still doing, a nice change.

On Wednesday I had the local newspaper in my mailbox. And with that came for the very first time, the official numbers of confirmed Corona cases that live in the same town as me. And when you know how to read a graphic and combine that with the information you have from the RKI and other news shows, it is frightening to see what had happened right before your nose the entire time. Within hours you could sense that something was going on. The panic level has risen again in town and all those care workers, who have to go on the frontline every day are now showing how angry they are or can become when they see some old morons standing in groups holding a little chat. Some of those old idiots’ don´t give a shit if they stand too close to you or don´t move their asses when you ask them to step aside so you can pass them without being too close. Oh yes, it makes me angry. Because even those old people who are completely clear in their minds keep telling you that they´ve never asked for this. Well, guess what: Me neither! Guess some plain talking is in order.

My father got four teeth taken out last week because the doctors believe that they were responsible for the pain in his legs and therefore the main reason why he isn´t walking around that much. Good, my dad looked terrible afterward but as long as his dentist is satisfied with the result and healing process, I am too. Only two days after his “big teeth day” the news was filled with the announcement that every dentist practice in Germany has to close due to new Corona restrictions. Something that does not make any sense. Not to me and for sure not to others. I am really curious about how this discussion will go on next week.

And now something fun.

The pictures were taken by the director of the Blühende Barock, ©VolkerKugel. Those huge eggs were built over weeks. Sad that nobody can adore them now live in the park.

And that is the picture I took and mailed my parents. At least that way they get an Easter bunny and hopefully some joy.

Stay safe and healthy!

Happy reading

  1. I wonder what our new normal will look like. I always hated crowds, and that feeling has compounded. Be safe and happy Easter! Our dental offices have been closed for over a month, and no elective surgeries anywhere. Too close contact.

    1. Well, my dad goes to a special dentist who is allowed to keep working. All the others are closed too. Today, our government decides if and how we will continue with the lockdown. Tonight I know.

  2. Great photos! The news is sad and scary. The days are all kind of running together and we don't plan to go anywhere soon. I'm uncomfortable even going out in my car to drive thru the pharmacy. I am reading but in a moody way.

Have a healthy, safe week! Happy Easter!

    1. I try to see the positive side of all this madness. Like watching birds jumping through the grass or when I see a flower I take a closer look at it. It helps me to stay sane...

  3. I've noticed around here too that the nicer weather is definitely making people restless. It'll be tough to maintain the lockdowns, to some extent, I fear with the warmer weather. And yes some of the older folks seem to be quite dismissive of everything. It can be frustrating.

I love those pictures- especially the middle one!!

Take care and have a safe week!

    1. I agree. The middle one is fantastic. When I was a kid I used to run down those small hills and watched the birds. Stay safe and well, Greg.

  4. I would think closing dentists is sensible given how closely doctor/nurse and patient must be, how long the virus can survive, and the unknowns related to asymptomatic carriers. If you are uncomfortable passing people on the street, imagine how confronting it must be to be in a tiny room with someone breathing all over you since the usual masks don’t offer complete protection.

Wishing you a great reading week and good health. 🐣

    1. Well, the government had to change the new Corona rules again, concerning the dentists. Because most of them said "if we need to close too, we too need financial help". We all know that the virus is evil and that we need to be very cautious about it. That virus is evil of the worst kind.

  5. My daughter loved looking at the photos of the eggs. So pretty and colorful, she said. She asked if she can visit. :-) It is such a difficult time right now for so many. I really feel for those essential employees having the be out there in the community. It's such a scary time. And still there are people who do not take it seriously. Everyone in our county is required to wear masks or coverings when going out of our homes now. It's no fun wearing a covering all day when I'm in the office, but it is what it is. At least for now. There was a big nursing home in my city in which the police and paramedics had to get involved and evacuate over 30 people and find placement for them because their careworkers stopped coming to work. I think I heard only one person reported to work for two days. I guess the careworkers weren't getting the support of their management and there had been several cases of the virus verified in patients and some of the staff already. So many people are angry right now about it and pointing fingers in every direction. The county is asking for volunteers to help care for the residents now.

Your poor dad. I hope he is feeling better all around. Our dental offices are closed for all but emergencies. Same with many of the veterinarian offices.

I hope you have a good week, Vi. Stay safe and well.

    1. The numbers of confirmed cases in care facilities are going up here too. It is frightening. Stay safe and well.

  6. That Easter display looks lovely. It's a shame that people were not able to get out and enjoy it because of the virus. We are starting to have more and more cases in my town too. I have stayed home as much as possible aside from walking my dog around the neighborhood and thankfully my neighbors all seem to be keeping their distance from one another. I will be very glad when things get back to normal though. Stay safe!

    1. Same here. Although I am not sure what "normal" will look like after Corona. You can already see that the young people have seen their world change within no time and that they do not take freedom for certain anymore. It is sad.

  7. We've just had our lockdown extended by 3 weeks and people really are struggling with it... Who'd have thought "stay in your house" was such a hard thing to do!
Our dentists have been closed since the beginning of the UK lockdown (mid-March) with the exception of emergency treatment.

    1. Yap, for some it is a hard thing to do. My parents are also struggling with it. The German government is doing things in two week steps at a time. Stay safe and well.
