With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #108

I´ve got some Freebies on Amazon. Please check them before you one-click because I don´t know if they are still for free. I´ve got more than those below but some cover´s google won´t let me upload (no clue why since changing their size hasn´t solved the problem). EDIT: late at night I could upload some more books, second line *Yay*

Sunday Post #65

The past seven days have been the most challenging days of my life. The German chancellor Angela Merkel has addressed the nation Wednesday night shortly after 8pm and watching her speak was the moment most of us I guess understood how serious the entire situation has become. Usually, she only addresses the nation on New Year’s Eve. The past fifteen years, that is how long she is doing her job now, she never had to do that besides her normal routine. It was hard to watch her. Not because of what she had to say, but because of her own history. To understand this, you need to know that she grew up in the eastern part of Germany, the former DDR, behind the wall. She knows first-hand how it feels when your democratic right of freedom is not given. When everything you do or say is watched by the government (they were called Stasi) and when you have to ask them for permission to visit others outside the DDR. While watching her holding that speech, I could see very clearly that it wasn´t easy for her at all to say what she had to say although she had a relaxed voice and mimic.

This afternoon the ministers of all states were in a video conference with her to see what the next steps and rules will be. The thing behind this was the fact, that we´ve had during the past few days people who held Corona-parties and sadly teenagers who thought it was fun to come closer to other pedestrians like a shoulder to shoulder and try to cough at them. Yup, dumb and dumber.

I am only watching the news twice a day now. It is for my own sanity. And I don´t watch every news channel anymore. CNN, BBC to keep me informed about what is going on there and because they have a different way to report about what is going on around the world. And I watch our German news Tagesschau which is, at the moment, the only news show I trust with the information besides the RKI (Robert Koch Institute) itself.

During the past three days, I spent my time cleaning out shelves, sorting out things, moving furniture around and being on the phone with my parents. For them, it is very hard to cope with the new situation and all the changes that poor in every hour. They can go outside for a walk but only when they go through the fields they have around their home.

I have not read a single book because I can barely concentrate on what I am reading. My head is spinning with all the information coming in. I tried to upload some book covers to do some blogging stuff but somehow not all pictures can be uploaded. Don´t know if Google is the problem or if Amazon has done something. I have not figured out yet why that is because the change of the image size hasn´t solved the problem. I do some style editing, open my windows even with the chilly wind outside but I need fresh air and my balcony isn´t quite ready yet. And with a very quiet neighborhood, it is actually a good thing.

And the moment I finished my post, I received the Breaking News that we will get a “no contact at all” order for the next time. The 1.5 m/ 2m physical distance is now mandatory. And I hope that I won´t have to do running the gauntlet to be able to go unharmed by those dumb kids to my supermarket or just for a short walk.

And to all Mothers in the UK who celebrate Mother’s Day today: stay safe, try to enjoy your day as much as possible and feel hugged!

    1. Wishing you the same. Weather forecast says we will get sunny but cold weather next week. So I guess I have a chance of enjoying some sun and feel good despite all other things going on.

  2. We already have these social distancing measures for one week Vi. And many can't focus on books right noe. To answer your question: Amazon changed something and we can't "save the picture as" any longer as it gives the whole web page. I guess that's why you couldn't upload .

    1. We had that social distancing last week too. But not as an strict order. The fun thing is, some covers I downloaded from Amazon I could upload to Google. Some not. But ok. I can live with that as long as the damn virus can be slowed down.

  3. It is very sobering for sure, and not to get political but from what I've seen of Angela Merkel she is such a more competent and reliable leader than we have here in the States. I wish we had someone like her in power over here- competence matters! Anyway take care of yourself this week and let's hope for good news soon...

    Beautiful picture! Be safe!!!

    1. I hear you. To be honest, I am no fan of her but she provides real leadership during this very difficult time and that is what I respect her for. Stay strong, stay safe and have a good new week.

  4. I just read that Merkel has had to self quarantine because she’s been exposed to the virus, Like with you, many of our populace didn’t take social distancing seriously so now it’s being enforced with closures. I’m having trouble concentrating too but I’m trying to stay positive and busy.

Wishing you a great reading week, be well!

    1. Yes, Mrs. Merkel is in a 14 day quarantine at her home and does her job from there. Right after she told the nation on Sunday about the "no contact at all" order she received the news that the doctor who had given her a prophylactic pneumococcal vaccination had been tested positive. The doctor did not know at the time he treated her, that he was infected. Streets and places were almost empty and people follow the new rules. And I do hope that the RKI will provide us with some positive news on Wednesday *fingers crossed* Stay safe & enjoy your week as good as possible.

  5. I saw that Chancellor Merkel is in quarantine now too because of her doctor. I hope she'll be okay. I'm struggling to concentrate on my reading too. It's a crazy world out there and I really hope we get through this soon. Stay safe!

    1. We all hope she will be ok. Guess the world will never be the same after this outbreak. I heard in the news that NY is hit very hard by corona and hope that you and your loved ones will stay safe and healthy. Hang in there!

  6. Hope you'll be able to enjoy a distracting book soon. We are also staying in except for essentials. I hadn't realized that about Merkel. That would definitely make it an even more stark announcement. Take care of you and yours!!
