With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #107

I am repeating myself but no news here, sorry.

Sunday Post #64

The past week was one I´ve never experienced in my life. The fact, that the Covid-19 is spreading so fast, Germany has become a state I don´t recognize anymore. I saw on the news the wonderful video about how the people in Italy react to the isolation situation they have to endure by singing while standing on their balconies. I still get goosebumps thinking of it.

Blunt was performing in a ghostly empty Elbphilharmonie Wednesday night and almost all live shows and discussion rounds are produced without a live audition. Some of those productions at least had the fairness to put the audition in darkness. But some of them didn’t and it looked frightening. I mean it is one thing to watch Blunt rock the stage without a visible audience and sing and perform as if it was the last thing he would ever do but it literally sucks to watch a live-show like Let´s Dance without any audience. The atmosphere isn´t just the same. The energy is completely gone, and I rather watch a movie than watching all those more or less prominent people act like a jumping jack in front of a camera.

Good, my personal life isn´t as affected by the virus, as I heard it has affected others. We do hear that there is the one or the other confirmed case two towns away from us and our next big city has also confirmed cases. But it somehow doesn´t concern me much. I am concerned about my father. He´s a dementia patient and with his heart problem he had last year in February, we know that he is one of the “high risk” patience doctors ask to stay away from people as much as possible. Almost every time I am on the phone with my father, I have to explain to him why I am not coming to visit him at home. He hears it, understands it and two minutes later he is asking me again. For him, the Corona is something he can´t really see. My Step-uncle came back this week from a wedding he had attended in the US. I don´t know if he is in self-isolation for the next 14 days or if he only had to leave his contact information and other information at the airport when he arrived in Frankfurt. I do hope that he went into homely isolation and that he is doing whatever it takes to make sure he isn´t infected or spreading the virus. I haven´t heard anything from my stepmother so far about that, but I really hope he stays away from my father.

And to top it all, my new neighbors are moving in. They started last night after ten pm and went back again this noon and are now even louder. They hammer, drill and move heavy things around that it is one huge rumbling noise. I could scream! And apparently, it doesn´t bother them at all that their new neighbors aren´t thrilled about it.

How was your week?

Happy reading

  1. Oh I'm sorry to hear about the new neighbors and the noise. that can be awful. Especially whe people act like they don't care. Ugh. and good luck with your father's situation. that is so HARD when they say don't visit but it's family and of course you WANT to visit. the uncertainty over having traveled and how much to self isolate is such a big concern too. We have someone coming to stay with us who's been in Florida and who knows if they caught if down there, or if we have it and give it to them since no one knows if they have it when its incubating or the carrier is asymptomatic?

Anyway hope you are well and have a good week!

    1. The entire situation is hard. And to be honest, we belong to a generation who isn´t used to those kind of restrictions or situation. Gosh, I do hope that this nightmare will be over soon.

  2. I hope the moving in is short term and they aren't noisy once settled. It's a rough time. I'm more than happy to stay home because it isn't forever. We have plenty of supplies. We will need some food periodically. I'm looking forward to working on things without distractions or running around all the time.

Stay safe and healthy and enjoy some great books!

    1. I like staying at home and working from there too. But I also need some time to stretch my legs and go for a walk or run to get oxygen into my body and simply feel better. Right now, going to the supermarket feels a bit frightening. And the press conference they gave today, made it only worse.

  4. I hope your father stays healthy! I’m not worried about myself, but I am worried about my parents. Hopefully the virus gets under control quickly. Have a great week!

  5. I'm nervous about my dad too. He has a lot of underlying conditions that would make a Covid-19 infection big trouble for him. And he's stubborn, so he probably won't heed any of the warnings about staying in. Sigh.

    1. Same here. At least they are using disinfectant when they go to the supermarket, which is good. But I would prefer them to stay at home completely. No chance *sigh*

    1. Today the RKI (Robert Koch Institute) gave a press conference and they said that it could take a few months before things will get better. Well, we are only one day into all those restrictions, new rules and law and it is already a nightmare. But nothing compared to what Italy is going through.

The coronavirus situation is insane. The situation is getting steadily worse here and they've just announced they're closing schools. :(
