is a weekly event that was originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy. There are a lot of new books coming out each year and some of them catch my attention and will get a spotlight in my Waiting on Wednesday post. While some of them will finally end up here at my place, others won´t. I am joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can´t-Wait Wednesday.
I read the first five books of this series that were published by a German publisher. Not knowing, that the author would come up with other books in this series a few years after the last one, Shadowfever. At first, her German fans, including me, thought that it would be only a matter of probably one or two years until we could read the German edition of Iced. Well, the publisher decided that the “new direction” the story had taken with Dani O`Malley would not fit into their program, and therefore they no longer bought the rights for the German market. Sad, but it seems, that Dani and her story were too childish. Not sure, if that is the exact way to describe Dani in Iced, but apparently, she was the reason for the cut. I can´t remember the year this happened, but since that time I either have to read the English Originals (which is no problem at all for me) as HC - which are pretty expensive - or wait until the books are available as a paperback. But I don´t like it at all, when I am literally forced to have two forms of print at home, instead of one.
The story about MacKayla Lane was one, I was fascinated by from the very first page. The mix of darkness and light, sarcasm, irony, and dark humor between Mac and Barron´s – all that got me right from the start. For me, the author has a very special way of bringing her readers into a world that is a perfect mix of mythology and erotic danger combined with a great setting.
And yes, despite the fact, that I have not read the books after I finished number five, I think I will go and finish this series - someday. So, yes, I am waiting for this one to come out.

I've read most of the series and I need to catch up and soon. This sounds great!
ReplyDeleteAfter the German publisher stopped publishing the series, I was not sure if I wanted to continue. And with the partly bad reviews, I was confused and had no desire to read Iced. Now, it feels like I want to know combined with the sad feeling that there will be no German book. Ah well, we can´t have everything, can we?! Thanks for stopping by.
