In my weekly book wrap-up, I share with you the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway or got approved for a reviewer´s copy or just bought a new one. And I will tell you a bit about the how and why I added them to my shelves and why I wanted them in the first place. I thought that I could do another change here since I did a lot of changes lately. From today on I will link this post also with Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and her Sunday Post. I am playing for quite some time now with the idea to do it. The rest will stay the same, don´t worry. I´ll keep you posted on what is going on with my bookshelves and the little stories about them.
Stacking The Shelves #44
Stacking The Shelves #44 is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews. A meme that is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!
I was actually a pretty good girl the past week. I DIDN`T BUY ONE SINGLE BOOK! Instead, I got some reviewer´s copies. I was asked a while ago if there was a special reason why I didn´t say thank you to the publishers I got my RC´s from. Well, since I am getting most of them from German publishers, the answer is simple: They don´t want to let others know, that they were sending out an RC. Until a few years back, they wanted to be named and thanked when they gave a book as an RC to a blog or literature portal. That has changed a few years ago when they had to discover that some blog owners were only asking for an RC but didn´t do the job right by not reading the entire book and giving them poor ratings or by not reviewing them at all.

Sunday Post #1
I know, I know it was very quiet over the past week here on my blog. And I have a very bad conscience that nothing happened here over the past few days. Sorry about that. The reason is that I was kind of knocked out. No drive to do anything but sleep, drink lots of water and tea, and nothing else. I couldn´t get myself to do the household or write a review not to mention get some posts done for the blog or schedule one. I was totally out of my usual routine and besides reading some books and watching a bit TV I, frankly said, did not much more. And the fact that a few nights ago some tubes right underneath my kitchen sink broke and gave me one hell of a night (I discovered it way past midnight when I got home) gave me the rest. I had to get everything dry, had to do that without making any noise since in Germany exists a rule called "night rest" that starts at 10 pm and runs until 6 am the next morning. That rule forbids any loud noise during the night (I am living in an old house where you can hear everything) and I had to find the damn main tube where I could turn off the water so that nothing more would come out and give me another hard time. You can probably imagine that I didn´t need anything else to happen that night.

Awwww man, it sounds like you had a rough week. :/ I feel like my motivation has slowly dwindled, as the year progresses. I don't know what it is about 2017. Hopefully your sink works better than before, with the repairs!
ReplyDeleteI actually didn't like A Wicked Thing or its sequel! *gasp* Unfortunately the books were very boring (for me). BUT I hope you enjoy it, and all of your new books!
Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a lovely weekend, Vi. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Well, so far I am still waiting that something happens in A Wicked Thing. The Carlotta book I already read and had a great time with it. Thanks for stopping by, Alyssa. Always a pleasure :-)
DeleteThanks, same to you :-) Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteHi Vi, Nice to link up with you - I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a rough week. The business with the pipes leaking in the night sounds like a nightmare:(. I hope you feel a whole lot better this coming week. Take care. My Sunday Post - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/02/19/sunday-post-19th-february-2017/
ReplyDeleteWell for whatever reason 2017 seems to be rough on me. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteA Wicked Thing looks good. Leaks are the worst. I am sure if you made noise they would have forgiven you. A water leak is messy. So glad you are joining in the fun with the Sunday Post :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for having me. Yes, it was messy and I am glad I got it under controll again:-)
DeleteWelcome to the SP! Sorry to hear about the pipes though- how awful. I had no idea there was a "night rule" like that in Germany- interesting. Hope that all worked out... seems like stuff like that always happens at the worst time. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week ahead!
Thank you, Greg. Yes, that rule exists since many, many years. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWhat a nightmare with your pipes. Whilst it didn't help you I have to say I quite like the no noise at night idea having lived in a terraced house. Hope this week you have more energy.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma,
Deleteyou are not alone with the liking of that rule :-) Thanks for visiting my blog and your nice words.
Sorry to hear about your pipes and your last week.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to read about publishing, blogging and reviewing habits in other places... thanks for sharing!
Hi Deborah,
Deletehopefully in a few days this nightmare is over. You are very welcome :-). I always find it very interesting too, when I hear how the reviewing and blogging works and is handled abroad. And it is also quite interesting to see how the publishers here start to change things and how they adopt more and more to the way the US/UK/CDN is handling book bloggers and everything that is connected with it.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
